Privacy Policy
The short version: the colour checker runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. Here's the long version.

Who we are
This site, Hue Shall Not Pass (https://hueshallnotpass.com), is operated by Mark Thurman. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].
The most important point
The contrast checker is entirely client-side. The colours you enter are processed in your own browser and are never transmitted to us or anyone else. We have no server that receives them, no database, and no account system. When you copy a shareable link, the colours are placed in that URL by your browser — sharing it is entirely your choice.
What we collect, and why
1. Analytics (no cookies, no personal data)
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused service that measures traffic without cookies and without collecting personal data. It doesn't track you across sites or build a profile of you. It tells us aggregate things like "how many people visited the guide this week," nothing that identifies you. Because it sets no cookies and stores no personal data, it runs without needing consent.
2. Advertising (only with your consent)
To keep the tool free, we intend to show display advertising. Ad networks (such as Google AdSense) may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and in some configurations to personalise them. In the UK and EEA these are only set after you agree via our consent banner, through a Google-certified consent management platform. If you reject non-essential cookies, we instruct our ad partner not to use them for personalisation.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your Google Ad Settings, or opt out of third-party cookies from participating vendors at aboutads.info/choices.
3. Your consent choice
When you accept or reject non-essential cookies, we store that single choice in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again. It stays on your device and is not personal data we can read.
Lawful basis (UK/EU GDPR)
- Analytics: our legitimate interest in understanding aggregate traffic, using a tool designed not to process personal data.
- Advertising cookies: your consent, which you give (or withhold) via the banner and can change at any time by clearing site data.
Sharing
We don't sell your data. The only third parties involved are our analytics provider (Plausible) and, once live, our advertising provider (Google), each acting under their own privacy terms. We use no other trackers.
Your rights
Under UK/EU data protection law you have rights to access, correct, delete and restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to it. Because the tool collects no personal data we can tie to you, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve — but if you have any concern, email [email protected] and we'll help. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Children
This tool is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update the date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised policy.
